Calvary United Methodist Church
Calvary United Methodist Church (CUMC) has a widely drawn congregation. As such, it may not always be possible to offer the level of day-to-day pastoral care and support we would like. However, we do aim to do our best to offer helpful and appropriate pastoral care to all of the congregation, staff, and visitors of CUMC. We recognize that people do not always know what is available so this leaflet summarizes what we offer.
The best and most used resource is each other – friends and other members of the church. This is one of the most potent and useful sources of pastoral care and not to be overlooked!
The Senior Pastor – Call the church office to make an appointment (719-599-7250 or email@example.com).
If you are ill – please let us know if you go into the hospital so that we can be in touch with the hospital chaplain on your behalf and add your name to the prayer list if you would like. We may also be able to organize a visit from the pastoral care team or a member of the congregation.
If you become housebound – please notify the church office so we can see about adding you to the list of those who are homebound.
Servants-On-Standby (SOS) – members of our congregation who offer help (e.g., transportation to an appointment, running an errand) to those that have a one-time need.
Caring Meals – members of our congregation who provide meals as needed to those ill, in crisis, or in recovery at home.
Stephen Ministers – A one on one ministry made up of members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are facing a crisis or going through tough times. The care you will receive is confidential, free, and very helpful.
Longer-term counselling or spiritual direction needs usually will be referred to others outside of the church. The Senior Pastor often is able to help find suitable resources.
