SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING
At Calvary UMC, we are committed to providing a Safe Sanctuary for all of God’s Children, young and old alike – “sanctuary” in the sense of growth and protection; “safe” in the sense of secure and blessed. This broad foundation is necessary so that the robust diversity of Calvary may thrive and grow.
The Safe Sanctuary Policy, adopted in 2013, requires that all persons who will be leading ministries for children and youth and who will be counted as part of our “Two Adult” Rule participate in a Safe Sanctuary Training Event at least once each year.
Safe Sanctuary Training will be particularly focused on the unique demands and expectations coming from Vacation Bible School, Youth Mission Trips, and other summer ministries at Calvary. Persons who will be adult sponsors on our Youth Mission Trips are expected to attend this training or a similar one prior to departure. All persons who volunteer regularly with children and youth ministries are encourage to attend.
